Decomption Synthesis and Optical Property of ZnO/CdS Nanoparticles in the Presence of PEG400

  • In the paper,a simple chemical reaction route has been designed,and ZnO/CdS nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the simple decomption in the presence of PEG400.The ZnO/CdS nanoparticles are about 4~10 nm in diameter.The product was characterized by X-ray Diffraction(XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM).The photoluminescence(PL) spectra of the ZnO/CdS nanoparticles exhibit a weak emission peak at 380 nm which is attributed to the near-band-edge exciton emission,and a strong emission peak at 550nm which arises due to the recombination of electron-hole pairs trapped at shallow and deep surface states formed by vacancy of oxygen respectively.The formation mechanism of the ZnO/CdS nanoparticles is also discussed in brief.
