Abstract
Waterborne epoxy resin curing agents were synthesized by a new method, and their properties are preliminary investigated. First, bisphenol A reacts with epichlorohydrin in the molar ratio of 1: 2, then aminolyzed with the diethylenetriamine(DETA) and a compound similar to epoxy-amine adduct is formed. The primary amine hydrogen with high activity in the adduct is capped with single chlorine ether alcohol and the HCl is removed off with NaOH. Finally, through adding the organic acid to neutrinize the amine partialy, the waterborne epoxy resin curing agent is obtained. Similarly, the polyethylene glycol reacts with epichlorohydrin and polyamine, then reacts with epoxy-amine adduct and a nonionized waterborne curing agent formed which can mprove the toughness of epoxy resin.
